¶ Android talk at LinuxSA

Joel Stanley will be presenting a walk through of Android. Android is a software platform for mobile devices, well known due to Google's involvement and it's Open Source background.

The talk will cover 3 levels of the Android platform:

• Android's modified Linux kernel
• Bionic, Android's BSD libc
• Davlik, the virtual machine that Android's framework and applications run on

I will also speak about my experience with Java application development on Android, using the Eclipse IDE. There will be a number of platforms running Android to look at, including the BeagleBoard, NeoFreeRunner and the HTC Dream.

Joel is a part time Computer Systems Engineering student at the University of Adelaide, and software engineer at ASTC. He gained his knowledge about Android's internals from playing around with it in his spare time, as well as using it on his phone.
